Description

Cape Burrower  (Opistophthalmus capensis)
This scorpion is mildly venomous.
Grows up to 13cm in length.
This scorpion will need a terrarium tank  with a heat pad on the bottom of one side depending on youre region (depending on scorpion size) . 5 to 12cm earth/substrate is recommended. A 4-4-1 mix of coco fiber, play sand, and clay works great but the choice is yours. Bark or driftwood creates nice decor and hide areas for the habitat. A shallow water bowl and crickets, cockroaches, mealworms and superworms. A wide variety of insects can be used for feeding.
Feed juveniles daily, adults every other day. Since they are nocturnal, feeding should occur at night. Remove uneaten crickets as they may attack a resting scorpion. Do not feed a scorpion while it is molting—wait until its exoskeleton hardens.
